Opel has given its compact crossover range a shot of adrenaline by introducing the Mokka X. The funkily styled model is essentially an upgrade of the existing Mokka with a few aesthetic tweaks.

The new design, with elements such as the strongly accented front air intake, brings it closer to other Opel products such as the Astra. The front-end sports LED daytime-running lights that are complemented by a new taillamp design incorporating optional LED elements. There will also be optional LED headlamps.

This updated model also benefits from a decrease in aerodynamic drag. Compared with the outgoing model, the Cd factor has been lowered from 0,36 to 0,35, assisting in further reducing fuel consumption.

Inside, the infotainment, climate controls and dashboard have been modernised. Mokka X models are fitted with an eight-inch Intellilink system that integrates with Apple and Android smartphones. The seats, steering wheel and door panels remain unchanged.

So too does the sole engine option for the range; the Mokka is still powered by the firm’s trusty 1,4-litre turbopetrol with a peak power output of 103 kw. This engine can be mated with a manual or six-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels.

Two trim levels are on offer, Enjoy and Cosmo, and both are available with either transmission option. The service plan remains at five years/90 000 km, while service intervals are 12 months/15 000 km.
