HAVALSTORM
AMONG A CLOUD BURST OF NEW MODELS, THE HAVAL H6 C COUPÉ REPRESENTS THE BRAND’S SPORTIEST MODEL TO DATE
NAMED for its relatively low roofline and corresponding swept-back stance rather than the traditional configuration of its doors, the new H6 C is Haval having fun. The spiritual successor to the bestselling SUV in the Chinese market, the new H6 C is offered exclusively with the company’s 4C20 turbocharged 2,0-litre petrol engine mated with either a six-speed manual transmission, available in either a two- or all-wheel-drive configuration, or a six-speed dual-clutch ‘box that transfers 145 kw and 315 N.m of torque to the front wheels exclusively. Haval claims a combined fuel consumption of 9,8 L/100 km with this latter arrangement.
Cushioned by a Macpherson-strut suspension arrangement up front, with a double-wishbone arrangement aft, despite its sleek name, the new H6 C measures 4 549 mm in length, 1 835 mm in width and stands 1 700 mm tall. These are dimensions that trump those of most compact SUVS.
The H6 C will be offered locally with the choice between three specifications levels – City, Premium and Luxury – but models feature at least keyless entry and start, automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, climate control and parking sensors with a reverse-mounted camera. There is also a full bouquet of audio functionality accessed via an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment display and steering wheel-mounted supplementary controls.
Premium and Luxury specifications add faux leather upholstery and electrically operated front seats, as well as side and curtain airbags to complement the front-mounted items offered throughout the range. While ESP stability control is also standard fitment throughout, these two top-tier models are differentiated by standard 19-inch alloy wheels, up rated from the 17-inch items fitted to the entry-level City model. Luxury models benefit further from a standard panoramic sunroof.
As on other Haval models, a five-year/100 000 km warranty and five-year roadside-assistance plan are standard.
The H6 C will be launched to the public at the 2017 South African Motoring Experience running from 1 to 3 September at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.
