Turning back the clock for a glimpse into the future

In a break from its Nissan-based luxury cars, Infiniti has taken a radically different tack with the Project 9 Concept (pictured left). Its teardrop-shaped body, leaf-sprung suspension and ladder chassis hark back to the racecars of the 1930s, while the electric 110 kw/320 N.m EV powertrain is based on that of the current Nissan Leaf. Weighing 890 kg, it cracks the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5,5 seconds.

The striking Mercedes-benz Vision Maybach 6 Cabriolet Concept (other images) wowed the crowds at this year’s Monterey Car Week. This art-deco-inspired concept is a vast slice of car, measuring around 5,8 metres long. A nautical thread runs through the concept’s design, including a boat-tailed rear, Nautical Blue metallic paint and chrome-straked floor panels emulating the deck of a classic speedboat. A quartet of electrical motors provides a combined output of 550 kw.
