OPEN-AIR MARANELLO FLAIR
The sun has set on Ferrari’s California. Enter the Portofino
With the California name bowing out with the T model, Ferrari has now christened its entrylevel coupé-convertible Portofino after the upmarket enclave on the Italian Riviera. The Portofino isn’t just a change of name, though, and in addition to a more coherent redesign, a new chassis underpins the car and contributes to a lighter kerb weight than the portly 1 730 kg California T. It carries over its predecessor’s engine, which has undergone a number of modifications to wring additional power and torque from the turbocharged V8.
