CLEVER FACTORY ROBOT

Autonomous driving has reached the factory oor. Audi showcased its automated goods vehicle (AGV) at its Summit meeting earlier this year that delivers parts to assembly stations. Previously, factory workers had to push trollies loaded with components to the vehicle-assembly line. The next solution was to use robots that could follow a magnetic strip on the assembly line oor to deliver a parts trolley. The latest AGV employs a camera and can recognise key locations in the assembly plant, just as a human would.
