’58 Plymouth Fury becomes something altogether more sinister. Slowly possessing its renovator and new owner, Arnie Cunningham, and turning him from high-school nerd into an edgy ‘50s greaser, Christine’s possessiveness of Arnie sees her killing anyone vying for his attention. Not even a group of sledgehammer-wielding school bullies can stop this automotive evil incarnate. She quickly uncrumples all the damage and brutally hunts down her attackers. It wasn’t just the Fury’s chrome-plated, ntailed beauty that captivated me, but also the idea that a car is more than just a hunk of metal ... albeit a frighteningly murderous one in this case.
