US evangelist set to preach in EL
INTERNATIONAL televangelist Kenneth Copeland is expected to preach at an East London church next week during his visit to South Africa.
This will be the first time the well-known US author, musician and public speaker visits the city.
Copeland, 78, who will be joined by his wife, Gloria, is to preach at River Park Church next Sunday.
He is one of the leaders of the Charismatic Movement, which is representative of an international trend in which historically mainstream congregations are adopting beliefs and practices similar to those of Pentecostals. Fundamental to the movement is the use of “spiritual gifts”.
River Park senior pastor André Roebert said he was excited about Copeland’s visit to East London.
“Personally, he has been a ‘father in the faith’ to me for many years, and his knowledge and wisdom from the Bible and in matters of faith has been a foundation in my own spiritual walk.”
Roebert said it was a great privilege to be able to broadcast Copeland’s message live over all channels of the Faith Broadcasting Network.
“My encouragement to the people of East London is not to miss out on this life-changing opportunity,” he said. Catch Copeland at River Church on Sunday 17 May from 9am. Entry is free. — poliswap@dispatch.
