Voters are wising up

-

AT LAST, one can say after 21 years of South Africa’s freedom, the voters are starting to see the light. Complacent leadership has the potential to wake up even the most hardened loyalist.

Our leaders – in business, government, NGOs or communities – should also start waking up from their gravy train of complacency.

The new voters entering the market have been observing those who have voted in the last years – and their dissatisfaction towards those who were voted for and did not fulfil their promises or mandates.

I’m glad and excited that this is starting to happen before the local government elections in 2016.

South Africa is now over 21, and those who vote are mature enough to see through those who come to deceive and manipulate to retain their positions, but cannot account.

Big ups to the new voters in the market and the old voters for seeing the light. — Xolani Qulu, via e-mail

Let the community form itself as a trust or company. Let it apply for the mining licence itself.

Have the people trained and mentored in the skill of mining and operating a mine.

Have government loan the funds for the project. Let all other interested parties buy the end product.

This is just the skeleton of an idea but it will mean a lot, not only for Xolobeni but could also to mining in South Africa.
