Bulldogs line up Boland
BORDER Bulldogs are already looking beyond the Vodacom Cup as they take on Boland in their final match of the campaign today.
According to Bulldogs team manager, David Ruiters, a win today in Alice at the University of Fort Hare would be a much-needed confidence booster for the Currie Cup First Division season.
Ruiters asked all stakeholders to rally around the team, saying there was light at the end of the tunnel.
The Bulldogs have not registered a single victory in their previous six Vodacom Cup competition matches.
As such, they find themselves rock bottom in the eight-team South section while their foes today, who have won only once, are one spot above them.
“We are
ready,
in
fact we have always been ready but this should be a clash of a special kind because both teams are playing to avoid finishing at the bottom,” said a hopeful Ruiters.
“A win for us will go a long way in terms of boosting the morale of these boys ahead of the Currie Cup.
“[Today] players must play for each other and put their bodies on the line,” he added.
“We believe we team.”
Ruiters believes the Bulldogs have been unlucky not to win, perhaps owing to lack of self-confidence on the part of the players.
He however emphasised that “no player goes onto the field to stuff up the game and definitely none of our coaches prepare a team to lose.”
The difference today, concluded Ruiters, will be who wants to win it the most.
