Zulu’s wish for Chippa

Mixed emotions for Chiefs marksman

- By VUYOKAZI NKANJENI

FORMER Chippa United striker David Zulu, who now plays for Kaizer Chiefs, says it will be an emotional experience when he lines up against his former teammates at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium today (3pm).

The stakes are high for relegation-haunted Chippa in this end-of-season Absa Premiership clash and Zulu says he wants a happy ending for both teams.

“I am looking forward to the game but at the very same time, there are emotions involved. Chippa are in a bad position at the moment.

“I would have liked to come to PE with Chippa in a different position than they are in at the moment.

“It might happen that when the referee blows the final whistle, I’ll be celebrating and on the other hand my former team might go to the playoffs,” Zulu said.

Zulu says he would like to see both sides happy after the game today.

“I would like us to win the game and I would like things to go in Chippa’s favour today. That can happen by seeing the teams below them, lose their games so that they can be safe from relegation,” Zulu said.

He added: “We will be out for a win today. Like for any other game we prepare to win so that we can collect points because we are also out for a true innovation.”

The fate of the Chilli Boys’ PSL campaign has come down to the last game of the season and one point via a draw will be enough to secure safety.

The issue is that they need to secure that one point against this season’s champions, Amakhosi, who are out to finish their leaguewinning season on a high before presented with the trophy.

Despite needing just one point, Chippa’s caretaker coach Velile “Eddie” Dyaloyi, says his side will go out and attack Chiefs.

The Chilli Boys’ are placed 14th on the log with 30 points from 29 games.

A draw or a win will protect Chippa from whatever happens below them.
