Abraw brawl set for arbitration

-

THE Premier Soccer League-facilitated meeting that was supposed to resolve the tug-of-war between Kaizer Chiefs and Bloemfontein Celtic yesterday did not take place and the matter is now headed for arbitration.

According to a statement from Celtic, the meeting failed to materialise following the non-arrival of a Chiefs representative.

“Bloemfontein Celtic honoured the Premier Soccer League [PSL] – Dispute Resolution Chamber [DRC] hearing which was scheduled for today [30th of June 2015] at the PSL offices to resolve the matter between Celtic and Kaizer Chiefs,” read a statement from Celtic.

Celtic are contesting the signing of Camaldine Abraw by Chiefs. Siwelele claim that the Togolese striker had signed a three-year pre-contact with Siwelele prior to being linked with and subsequently unveiled by Chiefs.

“The matter has been taken to Arbitration which will take place within 14 days from today,” Celtic said.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates’ next opponents in the African Confederation Cup have persuaded their Portuguese coach to stay a month longer as they try to secure the Egyptian title for the first time in 11 years.

Jesualdo Ferreira will stay at Zamalek until the end this month, long enough to try and see them home to the Egyptian title plus take them to Johannesburg for their Confederation Cup tie next Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.

The highly experienced coach, who won the Portuguese league three times with F C Porto, was due to leave at the end of last month.

Both Orlando Pirates and Zamalek were victorious last weekend in the opening games of group play in the Confederation Cup.
