Weekend promises great fun

FROM gospel to jazz to house, this weekend promises a wide variety of music events regardless of your taste.

Album launch

GOSPEL musician Malibongwe Gcwabe will launch his latest album titled Ndakuva Ndiyaphend­ula this Sunday at the Orient Theatre. Tickets cost R80 for adults, R40 for children, available at the door. Show starts at 1pm.

Goode for you

5FM DJ Roger Goode will grace the decks in East London once again, at Buccaneers. He will be playing alongside some of the most popular local DJs such as Loft and Dwayne. Doors open at 8pm. Admission is R80 per person at the door, R60 pre-sold.

DJ Master Jam

THIS Saturday East London’s DJ Master Jam will be celebratin­g his birthday at an all-white event at Pulse nightclub, featuring the likes of DJ C’ndo and Luke M. Tickets are R60, and the show starts at 8pm

Mbuku in the house

SIBU Mbuku, Top 5 contestant in singing competitio­n I Want To Sing Gospel, brings you her premiere concert tomorrow at the Guild Theatre as a solo act. She launches her new EP, recorded and produced by world renowned gospel music producer PJ Morgan in the US. The show starts at 7pm, with tickets at R100 available at Computicke­t.

Milk and Honey

GENRE-defying South African Jazz outfit Language 12, featuring Marcus Wyatt, is embarking on ‘The Land of Milk and Honey’ national tour and bringing it to the Stirling Music Centre and Auditorium. Tickets at the door cost R100. The show starts at 7pm tomorrow.

Nataniel entertains

THIS eclectic jazz, pop, soul and swing artist has returned to the Guild Theatre to present his latest music, where he is being accompanie­d by the Charl du Plessis trio. The first show was last night and the second is tonight at 7pm. Tickets cost R120.

Festive Fun

DYNAMIC duo Phoenix Rising will be performing at Hemingways Action Bar on Friday, October 2 from 9pm. Hemingways Absa Boktown SA vs Scotland on Saturday, October 3 and Monty’s Pub on Sunday, October 4 from 2pm.

THE 37th edition of Sunday Pholas in 33 months will now be doing a Hip-Hop Edition at Rhythm Bar in East London.

Ouboet on stage

THE popular actor Frank Opperman, (known to many as “Ouboet” in Orkney Snork Nie) is back on stage tomorrow with a new Afrikaans production – Die Klaagliede­re van Dominee Tienie Benade. This production is hosted by Oos-Londen Dutch Reformed Church in their church building, corner of Lambart and Oxford streets. The show starts at 6.30pm and there is safe parking. The cost is R100 per adult, R40 for high school learners while primary school pupils get in free. Tickets are available from the church’s office at 3 Lambart Street, Arcadia.

Boeremusie­k dance

BOEREMUSIE­KGILDE is holding a dance on Saturday at Grens Primary School, Muir Street, East London at 7pm. Tickets cost R20 members, R30 non-members

For the singles

SOLO Club invites all singles – male and female – to dance and meet each other to live music by Sarel and Nick at the EL Bowling Club from 7.30pm. The cost is R20 per person. Cash bar available.

Stock car racing
