WSU journalism lecturer one of Algoa FM’s new voices

- By BARBARA HOLLANDS

WALTER Sisulu University broadcast journalism lecturer Jeff Moloi will be one of Algoa FM’s new voices when he takes over the station’s weekday evening show on November 2.

Moloi’s 7pm to 10pm show, which will be broadcast from East London, is part of the station’s new line-up, following the departure of Tové Kane and Lauren Mungur.

And, while Daron Mann and Charlton Tobias will continue to host the morning DMB show, Carol-Ann Kelleher, their former co-host, will be tackling “a new and challenging operational portfolio”, according to Algoa FM operations director Alfie Jay. “A number of changes have been planned with a view to refresh the sound of Algoa FM ahead of summer. These changes include our music, our on-air imaging and line-up,” he said.

Moloi, a seasoned Mthatha-born radio and television presenter, said he was excited to be going behind the microphone.

Another new voice will be Luvuyo “Star” Nyembezi, who has a background in community radio. He will present the 10pm to 2am Saturday night show. “It’s been a dream of mine to join Algoa FM,” he said.

Port Elizabeth-born former Victoria High School pupil Shereez Govender will be rejoining the station after working for Metro FM for five years and living abroad. She will host the Saturday lunchtime show and will be heard on Sundays between 7pm and 10pm. —
