Gulls need to swoop out of their poor run

- By GAVIN VAN ROOYEN

CC-LLOYD community-based and reigning Easter Tournament Football champions Seagulls have so far flattered to deceive in the East London Central Premier League this season.

They have lost once and drawn two of their six league fixtures which leave them in fifth place and seven points behind Riverside, the defending champions and current frontrunners.

Seagulls have an astonishing cup pedigree in contrast to their league form and on paper boast with arguably one of the most talented squads in the premier league.

Club secretary Andrew Seekoei said the inconsistency by the senior players’ failure in lifting their game when they needed to for league encounters was costly.

“It is a strange situation. Our players tend to be hyped up when we participate in knockout football events but switch-off when participating in league fixtures. It is a mind-set which we need to change and this must happen soon before we find ourselves completely out of the title race”.

It’s Super Sunday at the North End and the green and whites from CC-Lloyd face possibly their sternest premier league test to date in the form of the blue train of Riverside.

Riverside have already this season annexed three cup competitions and have won all six of their league encounters netting 23 times while conceding a solitary goal. It all points to quite an intriguing encounter. The much improved Shiloh cross swords with Pride of India in a fascinating Braelyn derby encounter at 2pm.
