Kadjar a deserving finalist

AS YOU probably know, the Renault Kadjar range was expanded in July to include automatic transmissi­ons and an additional diesel model.

The 1.5dCi is a great engine as experience­d in the previous generation Nissan Qashqai and continues to be equally impressive in the Kadjar, a vehicle that has been named one of 10 finalists in the 2016 SA Car of the Year competitio­n.

In all likelihood‚ it will feature as a popular model in the range; the one to go for if economy and effortless performanc­e rank high on your list. If there is one criticism I can perhaps level at the model it is that there is no CD player.

Of course‚ this is not an isolated criticism as many other manufactur­ers are omitting CD players from their vehicles in favour of external playback items such as USBs‚ Bluetooth streaming and even SD cards.

The Kadjar, which retails for a little over R450 000, continues to be a stylish‚ well-packaged and thrifty SUV for those looking for a compact urban cruiser. With the expansion of the range‚ it should become an even more attractive propositio­n.

Now if the rest of the market could look beyond the badge and take one for a test drive at the very least‚ it could prove somewhat of a revelation – just as it has with the team. — BDlive
