Bees aim to keep their buzz against Lion

THE Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League big spenders, E C Bees will be out to tighten their grip on the log summit when they welcome Lion City at the Bhisho Stadium this evening.

The Bhisho-based side have had a 100% start to the 2016-17 campaign, scoring four goals in two outings while conceding zilch.

Since their ascendency to the second division last season, Bees quickly established themselves among title contenders, but they fell short last season.

Their start this season is already far better than that of the last campaign – when they started with five straight draws.

While Bees’ form seems to be improving after they opened with a 1-0 victory over Mthatha City and then clobberred City Lads by 3-0 last weekend, Lion City have been far from convincing.

City opened the season with a 00 draw against Matatiele Professionals, before managing a slim 10 win over Walter Sisulu University in the season’s week two.

Also tonight in the Motsepe League, Morning Stars welcome Lads at Zwide Stadium at 6pm, while Highbury host Mthatha City two hours later at the Nelson Mandela University main campus. —
