Roads have gone to the dogs

-

I HAVE driven through the roads of Gonubie, all of them, and find it totally disheartening to see roads once in a good condition now having gone to the dogs.

But what can you expect if the BCMM does not have any planned maintenance/preventative maintenance plans in place to attend to this, let alone to have short, medium and long-term planning to address this problem?

This is not only being experienced in Gonubie, but also in Cambridge, Amalinda, Beacon Bay, West Bank and so I can go on, but at the end of each month, you receive your monthly bill for municipal rates, and beware your soul if this is not paid.

Then you receive threats that your electricity will be cut, yet as ratepayers you have no right to any action against BCMM and its incompetent staff, for services paid for, but not rendered.

When inquiring why maintenance is not being done, you are told that contract 26 has not yet been accepted. Further when you inquire about the priority list for the repair to your roads, you are told that Mr A will supply same, but when you approach Mr A, you are still waiting, even if it was three weeks down the line, with no response at all.

Do they have a priority list? If yes, please supply same to the residents during your IDP Roadshow.

How much longer must we wait to get service delivery for the rates we pay? — Christiaan Swart, Gonubie
