Time studies resumed

STUDENTS at all our universiti­es have made their call with #FeesMustFa­ll and as responsibl­e citizens we appeal to them to now return to class. The six weeks of protests across the country have disrupted lecture times. Some institutio­ns are already postponing final exams, and students must ensure they complete their academic year.

They must also understand that every action they take can have bad consequenc­es.

Among these is a lack of exam preparatio­n, a huge loss of money for parents, a loss of bursaries for those selected by government department­s and private companies. Those who fail will also find it very difficult to prepare for supplement­ary exams next year.

Students must also remember that we already have graduates struggling to get employment; and they will find themselves in a pool of unemployed, unemployab­le youth.

Our government is trying to give our students access to education. Parents and academics must also intervene and emphasise
