TWO East London companies have partnered to host a special event tomorrow in aid of 17-year-old Jamie Johnson.

The Music Company and Wiseguys Bar and Grill are hosting the ‘Jam 4 Jamie’ gig to help raise funds for the teenager, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 14 years ago.

Jamie has been in and out of hospital and this year alone has been admitted nine times.

She currently is in insulin pump.

Music Company co-founder, Daryn Mildenhall, said he saw a post on Facebook that was shared by Jamie’s mother, Juliet Johnson.

“We have been toying around with ideas that we could do to help raise some funds for Jamie. Apparently the insulin pump is over R50 000.

“We have decided to give a portion of our door fee to them for this event that we are hosting this Saturday,” Mildenhall said.

Johnson said getting the insulin pump would improve Jamie’s condition. Johnson said although the Hudson Park High School pupil missed the second term she still managed to get an aggregate of 60%.

“She wrote her last exam on Wednesday and is doing great,” she said. She added that she had been blown away by the positive response she had received from the community of East London.

Mildenhall said he hoped they would be able to assist Jamie in getting an insulin pump and monthly consumables soon.

He said they would be hosting The Children of the Sun hit-maker, Daniel Baron tomorrow. He said Baron would be supported by a number of local DJs. Entry is R50 before 10pm and R70 after. need of an
