All-new panel for top hip-hop show

Mshoza denies being ‘blesser’ wife

- By AZIZZAR MOSUPI

CONTROVERSIAL singer Mshoza has come out strongly to rubbish reports that she’s in love with a “blesser” and had settled with becoming a third wife.

A Sunday Sun report claimed Mshoza was welcomed as a third wife into her businessman beau’s family recently.

The paper reported that a relative claimed that Mshoza would soon become the third wife of her wealthy boyfriend Thuthukani ‘Thuthu” Mvula‚ whom she has been dating for the past few months. However‚ taking to Instagram, Mshoza rubbished the article.

“No truth in this at all!! Sunday Sun ran out of stories. You can write whatever but these are my people and I am the host.”

Mshoza also reflected on dealing with the negativity she faces. “@mshozabhoza1 is one of the strongest women I know … through it all she smiles with love and loves with passion.”

During an interview with TshisaLIVE earlier this month‚ Mshoza revealed that she her relationship and wedding plans were on hold for the moment.

“I’ve decided to put my relationship on pause.

“We didn’t break up‚ I just asked for‚ I don’t know‚ space? I realise that time is ticking and that none of this is benefiting me. I’ve decided to focus on my music and my business‚” she said at the time. — TshisaLIVE THE ante has been raised for hip hop fans for this year’s MTV Base Roundtable: SA’s Hottest MCs of 2016, with an all-new panel – and a new host and mediator in the form of hip-hop legend Proverb.

Each year, out of the roundtable discussion, one artist is crowned the king of local hip hop.

This year Proverb, real name Tebogo Thekisho, is mediating instead of radio and television personality Sizwe Dhlomo.

“Proverb is quite established in the hip hop space – he’s a legend,” said Viacom vice-president of BET channel’s youth and music portfolio, Monde Twala. “We wanted someone with credibility.

“He’s walked the talk … he’s able to understand what is really happening on the ground, and each year we aim to evolve.”

Proverb said the list, which is highly anticipated and hotly contested, was something that could only benefit the industry. “The standard of hip hop over the past two years has increased.

“Hip hop is definitely dominating right now and this makes everybody want to step it up and be better and make it on the list,” he said.

“Hip hop has always been very competitive and things like a roundtable discussion only adds fuel to the fire.”

The panel boasts heavyweights such as veteran MC and producer Amu, lyrical king Tumi and label head and rapper Slikour, as well as UJFM’s 16Bars, Reloaded’s host Spoken Priestess, DJ and producer DJ Capital and SA Hip Hop Awards’ supremo Rashid Kay.

The six key criteria that the panelists will weigh up are impact, lyrics, sales, buzz, style and other “intangibles”, which have previously included sponsorships and endorsements, to determine the local king of the scene.
