- By ZIPO-ZENKOSI NCOKAZI

BUTTERWORTH-born actress Lusanda Mbane wears many hats, from voice artist to brand ambassador and now adds radio host to this list as she joined Tru FM’s lineup on the weekend. Speaking to the Daily Dispatch Mbane said although she was no stranger to the world of broadcasting, this would be her first stint as a radio presenter. She got a taste for radio earlier this year on Tru FM’s The Real Deal as a guest presenter, an experience that she relished. The hype generated by her co-presentation made the station management sit up and take note. “It was a totally new experience, so it was nerve-wrecking but also very exciting. Radio has always been sort of in my plans so when the opportunity came I knew it was my chance,” said Mbane. The businesswoman and marketing specialist joined the Tru FM family yesterday as the host of The Nest. She recently appeared in e.tv’s popular drama series, Scandal! Her appearance came shortly after Eastern Cape actor Hlomla Dandala made his debut on the show as Kingsley Siseko Langa – a human rights lawyer. Mbane plays the role of Boniswa, who is Langa’s wife on the show. She has acted on massive SABCTV platforms like Generations, Muvhango, Soul City and others and has been a regular MC at Eastern Cape’s anchor festive season event, Buyelekhaya. Mbane clearly has one of the country’s most sought after voices as she is also the voice behind South African Airways inflight safety information. She said she was also excited about working with Sive Nkukwana who will be the show’s producer. Acting station manager Masi Mdingane sees Lusanda’s joining the station as “an opportunity to tap into audiences that the station had not yet reached. We are very excited about her joining the team and look forward to positive listener feedback following her addition to our team and family”. —
