RADIO presenter Brian Ndevu is ready to take over the Algoa FM Border Drive from Gordon Graham when he leaves at the end of March.

Ndevu has been co-hosting with Graham from January in preparation for the big takeover.

Speaking with the Daily Dispatch yesterday, Ndevu said he has enj himself on the new station.

“It’s been great. The reception is awesome and we are doing something that has never been done before. Normally, the new presenter comes in after the old one has left but not this time around,” he said, adding that this would give them a smooth transition when the legendary Graham leaves next month.

Ndevu said the transition from a youth radio station to a commercial one has not been difficult for him.

“Trufm is very interactive. We would have people calling in but now it’s more on social media but we are trying to get them to make those calls,” he said.

Ndevu said the move to Algoa FM came at a perfect time in his career.

“In a youth station there is only so far you can go and I believe that I had hit the roof in terms of growth and this move was growth for me,” he said, adding that adjusting into the new station has journey for him.

Graham, who has been with the station for more than 20 years, will hang up his radio mic to work as an announcer for sports events and operate as an independent contractor.

He would also be exploring opportunities as a voice-over artist.

Ndevu said for the past two weeks he has been driving the show.

“The listeners have been receiving been an exciting me so well and I am understanding how the station works,” he said.

Currently Ndevu is following Graham’s flow on the show, but said as soon as he takes over fully, he would be bringing in his unique flavour into the show.

“Obviously the show must maintain its standard but I cannot do it like Gordon. I will personalise it and make it my own,” he said. —
