Incentives for waste drivers

-

IT WAS not surprising to read in the Dispatch last week that eight Buffalo City Metro rubbish trucks are standing at the garage for repair. We see how these drivers drive them, speeding from point to point, revving the trucks as they go.

If only BCM would take more time to check their trucks and drivers and monitor the way they drive.

Also, why doesn’t the BCM waste department implement reward incentives for the drivers, those who look after their truck and keep them in good nick may qualify for an incentive every three months or so? If such a model was implemented I can assure you, there will be more trucks on the road and not in the garages.

Or surely those in charge of these vehicles could come up with a plan of their own, or are they not interested in looking after the assets of our city? — Brian, via e-mail

THIS is an open letter to our municipality. Kindly inform all residents of Vergenoeg via a press release if the refuse removal day has changed.

The refuse was normally picked up on Wednesdays, but for the last six weeks our refuse is being picked up over weekends. Why?

We are putting our refuse out on Wednesdays only for it to be torn apart by dogs, leaving our streets in a filthy mess. This includes the used baby nappies infested with flies that lead to a particularly unhygienic situation in scorching heat. — Roy D Claasen, via e-mail
