DeepLondon single a taste of debut album
EAST London DJ, producer and entrepreneur Le Vinnyl DeepLondon released his first single, Greatest Things In Life, on iTunes yesterday.
Le Vinnyl DeepLondon, whose real name is Litha Kupelo, features vocalist Benathi Phalezweni on the song.
Because of popular demand for the single to be available for downloads, the DJ said the song would also be available on other digital platforms like Soundcloud, Beatport and Tracksource by Friday.
He plans to drop his debut album later this year.
“The song has been very well received. People have been asking for the song for a while now and I felt it was the right time to release it.”
Kupelo, 23 – who also owns clothing brand Deep London – said his debut album would feature a number of local artists as a way of promoting talent in the Eastern Cape.
The United East London DJs Organisation founding member said featuring local acts was part of the organisation’s plan of creating unity and promoting the craft.
The organisation has over 20 local artists including the popular Mobi Dixon.
“My fellow DJs have been very supportive. Whether it’s the music I release, DJ competitions or gigs I play at, [they always support me].
“Knowing how competitive the entertainment industry can be, it is really nice to know that I have the support of the people I am hustling with,” said Kupelo.
The DJ, who plays at some of the city’s most popular hangouts, will be taking his music to KwaZulu-Natal with a Durban tour from March 7 to 9.
Kupelo is not new to the Durban party scene as he finished second in last year’s annual Spring Fiesta DJ competition, walking away with R5 000. — qaqambam@dispatch.co.za
