Best of house at music festival

- By SISIPHO ZAMXAKA

EVENT organiser Wesley Thatcher is bringing the first Ventures Outdoor Music Festival to East London this weekend.

The festival will take place at Beacon Bay Country Club on Saturday, where music lovers will be treated to the best of deep and tech house music.

Thatcher is well known for bringing national acts to Buccaneers, but is now exploring other avenues to give local DJs a platform to showcase their skills.

“There are so many talented East London DJs who are not given a platform. This event is there to bridge that gap.

“At every Ventures event, people should expect to see a new line-up.”

Thatcher said future events would mostly be held in Beacon Bay. “Although I will be venturing out and taking the event to other places, I will be taking advantage of the newly refurbished Beacon Bay Country Club. It is a cool setting for everyone to enjoy themselves with friends.”

He said he was hoping for good weather over the weekend as it was a day-into-night event, but if it rained, people will be moved into a closed venue.

The festival will feature DJs Jim Le Jam, Dan Hugo, Von Dirty, Kool-E, Filth, Dwayne and Damage, who is known for his smash hip hop hit Shots to da Head.

● Tickets cost R50 at the door before 6pm, and R60 thereafter.
