Author’s dying wish for husband

-

“HE’S an easy man to fall in love with. I did it in one day.”

With those words‚ Amy Krouse Rosenthal‚ author of more than 20 books for children‚ tried to ensure her widower would not remain unloved after her death.

She died yesterday morning from ovarian cancer.

Her death was announced by the Children’s Bookshelf @PWKidsBookshelf.

She wrote a dating profile for her husband of 26 years‚ titled “You May Want to Marry My Husband”‚ after learning her cancer was terminal.

It was published in the New York Times on March 3‚ but she wrote it over several days‚ ending on Valentine’s Day.

Her cancer was diagnosed in September.

“So many plans instantly went poof. No trip with my husband and parents to South Africa. No reason‚ now‚ to apply for the Harvard Loeb Fellowship.

“No dream tour of Asia with my mother. No writers’ residencies at those wonderful schools in India‚ Vancouver‚ Jakarta.

“No wonder the words cancer and cancel look so similar‚” she wrote.

Her husband‚ Jason Brian Rosenthal‚ and she were both 24 when they met.

“By the end of dinner‚ I knew I wanted to marry him.

“Jason? He knew a year later.”
