Selborne’s chase never really got off the ground, with Stuart Els hitting a solid 45-ball 52 and Dylan Deetlef’s 22-ball 26 the only real efforts of note as they ended on 126/9 to fall to a 50-run defeat.

Former Selborne allrounder Thando Ntini bowled the final over of that match, managing a wicket maiden to end with figures of 2/11 off his four overs.

In the Hudson match, Glenwood batted first and scored a competitive 141/5 thanks to an unbeaten 58-run sixth wicket stand after being in a bit of trouble at 83/5 after 13 overs.

Jason Niemand with 1/16 and Raheem Moonieyan with 1/19, both off four overs, were Hudson’s best bowlers.

Hudson did not time their chase well and struggled to 121/5 at the end of their 20 overs. Niemand, with an impressive 57-ball 64, tried to keep Hudson in with a chance, but with only two other batsmen reaching double figures, his wicket in the 17th over ended their chances of victory.

Despite his team having lost the match, Niemand was a deserved man-of-the-match winner and will hope to inspire Hudson to greater success in today’s games.

Selborne’s 68-run win over Prestige earned them an important bonus point and gives them a chance to qualify for the semis with one game still to play today.

Selborne managed a solid 154/3 with the bat, thanks to the efforts of Matthew Ferrant and Matt Dewar, who scored half centuries.

Selborne then bowled Prestige out for 86, thanks to the awesome efforts of Van Wyk, while Christian Schluter with 2/10 off four overs and Tristan Alexander with 2/10 off 2.3, backed him up well.

Today’s action sees Hudson play twice and Selborne once, after which the top two teams in each pool will qualify for tomorrow morning’s semifinals.

Hudson take on Titan’s reps HS Centurion in the morning before their final pool game against Knights reps St Andrew’s Bloemfontein, while Selborne play their final pool game against Lions reps St Stithians in the morning.
