Health probes ‘non-existent’ jobs document
THE department of health has launched an internal investigation into the distribution of a “non-existent” internal PDF document containing “unauthorised” vacancies.
Earlier this week a 68-page PDF document seen by the Daily Dispatch circulated on social media sites calling for applicants to apply for various posts.
These ranged from deputy director jobs to cleaners at various health facilities in the province.
Department of health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the document was not official and did not comply with the department’s internal prescriptions and policies.
“The positions [were] erroneously distributed to institutions by an unauthorised official while the department was still busy with internal verification processes.
“These were subsequently shared by those in the institution and further distributed through social media platforms and the department is now inundated with calls from would-be applicants who are supposedly responding to the non-existent vacancies,” said Kupelo.
The document stated the job adverts were posted on March 27 and closing date for was April 20.
Some of the vacancies included that of a deputy director with a salary scale of between R620 000 to R720 000 a year at the Bhisho head office.
Other positions included cleaners, drivers and laundry workers at hospitals.
“We wish to advise members of the public that as and when vacancies become available applications in the department, an official advertisement will be placed in appropriate advertising platforms such as departmental website, DPSA [Department of Public Service and Administration] website and both local and national newspapers.”
Kupelo said authorised and budgeted vacancies would be advertised in line with department protocols. —
