Cops arrest teen over East Cape gogo’s rape
A TEENAGER from Ngobozi location has been arrested after a rape complaint from a 68-year-old woman.
According to Butterworth police spokesman Captain Jackson Manatha the youth, 18, violated the elderly woman at her Toleni Village home on Friday.
Manatha said he is alleged to have gained entrance through the window and accosted the victim at about 9pm on Friday.
Her neighbours made a citizens’ arrest and handed him to Butterworth police.
The youth will appear before the Butterworth Magistrate Court today on a rape charge.
● A shop assistant was shot and killed during a business robbery in Willowvale on Saturday. Manatha said three men entered a shop at Kulozulu Location, Nqadu village, at about 6.20pm.
“One was armed, and he shot and killed a woman shop assistant aged 24.”
Manatha said the men fled on foot with the money they took. The woman, who cannot be identified until all family members are informed, died at the scene.

● Willowvale police arrested two men aged 28 and 31 and charged them with stealing goods valued at R45 000. They were arrested in the early hours of yesterday at their homes after an intense police investigation.
“It is alleged that they committed housebreaking on Saturday and stole a lot of stuff.
“The two will appear before the Willowvale Magistrate’s Court [today].” —
