Fun for all at first BCM Easter Fest

- By QAQAMBA MAGADLA

OH! Concepts, together with BCM and the Daily Dispatch, will host the inaugural BCM Easter Festival this month.

The event, which promises fun for the whole family, includes a stellar line-up of some of Mzantsi’s finest artists in various music genres.

The line-up includes award-winning Riky Rick, music movement Roots 2000, Vusi Nova, Sjava, DJ Dimples, Vetkuk, Mahoota and many more.

Socialite and event organiser Olwethu Hoyana, said OH! Concepts had identified a gap with regards to family entertainment around the Easter weekend.

“You will notice a mix of hip-hop, afro-pop and gospel artists, as well as both national and local DJs in the line-up. There will also be a kiddies village with jumping castles, face painters and other types of entertainment, so the event will be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their taste in music,” Hoyana said.

He said events tourism was a key economic driver for the metro, with throngs of people in the city during the festive season requiring accommodation, food and entertainment.

Hoyana said the event also aimed at creating a platform to showcase local talent.

“All the gospel acts are local. Mobi Dixon needs no introduction, and PH on 5FM is a local boy. Upand-coming local groups Nkevastan and Zintle Kwaaiman are in the line-up, and no fewer than eight local DJs will be playing,” he said.

BCM spokesman Sibusiso Cindi said the metro was happy to have partnered up with OH! Concepts for the event.

The BCM Easter Festival will take place on April 15 at the Buffalo Park Cricket Stadium in East London. Tickets will be available at Pro Ticket from today with prices ranging from R200 and R250 at the gate, R50 for children under 13 years. Strictly no alcohol will allowed and refreshments will be sold inside. Cooler boxes with ice will be allowed. —
