Chilli Boys take aim at City

-

CHIPPA United will be out to break their five match winless run in the Premier Soccer League when they play Cape Town City, at Athlone Stadium tonight. The kick-off is at 7.30pm.

The Port Elizabethbased side return to the field after a two-week international break, which Chippa coach Dan Malesela said the team would use to relax and reboot.

The Chilli Boys are 10th on the log with 23 points from 21 games.

Chippa’s lead goal scorer Lerato Manzini said preparations for the match have gone smoothly.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic striker has netted six goals so far this season.

“We have been training very hard in the past two weeks,” Manzini said.

“As a team we are very prepared for them [City]. We know they have been producing very good results lately.

“We respect them as a team but at the end of the day we need points. We want to secure our spot in the top eight.

The Chilli Boys have gone five games without a win. They will be hoping to turn a new leaf when they play the Cape Town-based side tonight.

The last time Chippa tasted victory in the PSL was in February when they beat struggling Baroka 2-1.

Manzini said in order to get a victory over City the Chilli Boys needed to be disciplined.

He said an away win was very vital.

“We are playing away, we just have to be cautious and attack.

“We are a good team but most of the teams that we play against they do not come pound to pound they just wait and then play us on a counter.

“Those are the things that we have been working on at training.

“We just have to be cautious and be patient on the day,” Manzini said.
