NewsNight anchors for e.tv slot

-

FOLLOWING the recent departure of Iman Rappetti, and the request from Jeremy Maggs to shift to an earlier time slot, e.tv has announced that veteran broadcaster Vuyo Mvoko and eNCA mid-morning anchor, Cathy Mohlahlana, will host NewsNight as of Monday.

eNCA channel news director Mapi Mhlangu says it is a strong partnership.

“Vuyo brings political knowledge and years of experience and Cathy has excelled as an anchor since she moved from field reporting.” Mvoko has worked across print and television for many years, earning him a reputation as a solid news man and an accomplished writer and broadcaster.

His NewsNight appointment is familiar territory. “I’m excited to be back home because this is where my television journalism career began in 1999,” Mvoko says.

Mohlahlana is ready for the challenge but mindful of the responsibilities it brings.

“The democratic project in South Africa is facing challenges politically, socially and economically. The need for fair and credible news continues to increase. It’s exciting to be part of a team which endeavours to do just that,” she said.

“We are thrilled to see a young star such as Cathy ready for this new position. We are equally pleased to have Vuyo home,” Mhlangu said.

Further line-up changes include Maggs moving to Newsday from 1pm- 4pm every weekday.

Michelle Craig and Shahan Ramkissoon move from afternoons to mid-mornings from 9am-1pm daily.

Joanne Joseph remains in her popular 4pm-6pm slot.

Uveka Rangappa and Dan Moyane stay on Morning News Today, 6am-9am.
