No free tertiary education, land grabbing, says ACA
A NEWLY formed political party in Mthatha says it does not support free education at tertiary level and is against expropriation of land without compensation.
The African Change Academy (ACA) was founded by former UDM provincial secretary Wandile Tsipa and other former UDM members Mhlangabezi Ngebulana, Mbuyiselo Macibi, Zola Luyenge and Conty Lebepe.
Speaking to the Dispatch soon after its launch, Tsipa said although the party was still new and busy compiling its policies, it did not support free tertiary education.
Tsipa warned against the “dangers” of expropriation of land without compensation.
“We are not in for land expropriation without compensation. That is what destroyed Zimbabwe, which in its heyday was the basket of Africa.
“Also, in education, South Africa at this stage cannot not afford free education from Grade R to tertiary.
“Such education would not be a quality education.
“Lecturers will not be rewarded and will leave the country,” he said.
Tsipa also accused the leadership of his former political home, the UDM, of not following the party’s constitution.
He lambasted the Bantu Holomisaled party of taking a high moral ground when it came to accusing President Jacob Zuma of corruption, while they were also corrupt within the party. He said UDM leaders were “bulldozing” every member standing in the way.
“The worst thing that frustrated us was the deliberate and gross violation of the UDM constitution by the top leaders.
“There was continual disbanding of organisational structures in the Eastern Cape mainly – the province which is the bedrock of the party – the plotting and discrediting of the political integrity and some loyal members,” said Tsipa.
Tsipa resigned from the UDM on April 19 while he was party leader in the King Sabata Dalindyebo council. —
