Fine these politicking chiefs

-

AS A traditional leader and member of Contralesa I am very disappointed with the Mbashe traditional leaders for humiliating traditional leadership, especially Contralesa, by denouncing AmaXhosa King Aahh Zwelonke!!!

This is an embarrassment to traditional communities at large. How can you seriously call yourself a traditional leader and then turn against your principal because you join a faction of a political organisation.

Ngubelanga Ngubechanti must just wear his ANC cap if he wishes to make such pronouncements, not a Contralesa cap.

These are the kind of traditional leaders who sell the institution of traditional leadership to a highest bidder.

A king is a highest authority in his land. His Majesty has every right to share his views on the state of the country as a citizen. In this matter the King did not speak on behalf of the Xhosa nation but in his personal capacity.

Chiefs must refrain from undermining our king for purposes of political gain or recognition or any other reason.

Traditional leaders must refrain from becoming the subjects of politicians. And traditional leaders must refrain from being used by political factions and instead lead by example.

We must lead by example, we must preach unity, not division to our people.

The ANC has its processes to elect its leaders – that is for ANC branches not traditional leadership.

AmaXhosa should fine each of these chiefs a head of cow.

Contralesa Eastern Cape should also take action against Ngubechanti for embarrassing the organisation and speaking against his own king in public. — Nkosi Zanodumo, head of Qweqwe Traditional Authority, Mthatha
