Who insures laptops?

receive the shocking results from the by-elections held in Nquthu. The ANC's support has dropped so much since the 2016 local government elections that they have lost three seats.

Three seats is not a small number. Hence I am anxious and weeping like a baby.

This is as a consequence of the arrogance of the national executive committee in general and the secretary general specifically who has led the party of the founder of our beloved nation, South Africa, Dr Nelson Mandela, to this demise of catastrophic proportions.

It always puzzles me why the poor performance of the party is attributed to the president of the organisation, yet the engine which ought to give oxygen and life to any party is the SG. The signs are showing slowly but surely that the most respected glorious movement of the people of South Africa, and I should not hesitate to point out, even of Africa, is fading.

It is no longer a question it’s now a reality that in the not-too-distant future there is a huge prospect of kissing goodbye the brand ANC because of the stubborn NEC which has become too big for its boots. — Zamayedwa Seuntjie Nofemela, via e-mail I WAS shocked to see our government giving teachers and officials laptops, cellphones and data (“23 000 EC teachers given computers” DD, May 25). Who will be responsible for the safety of these items? Will the teachers and officials have to insure them at their own expense, or will government pay these costs as well?

Surely if teachers and officials are given these items for free they should insure them at their own cost so that they look after them and do not leave them lying around.

There needs to be some kind of responsibility built into getting these expensive items. — Brian, via e-mail
