Tour de Force mountain bike race, market, features plenty fun for whole family

THE annual mountain bike race and French Market hosted by Alliance Francaise East London will be held next weekend.

The third annual Tour de Force mountain bike race, 5km fun run and French Market is to be held at 3 Silos on the N6 just outside East London on Sunday June 11.

As in the first two editions of the race, the 20km and 10km races will be cycled again on new circuits. The route will be announced at the race briefing.

The 2km kiddies race for those aged under six will be held on the same circuit as before.

This year, the 10km route should appeal to all cyclists.

And, a genuine Tour de France King of the Mountain polka-dot jersey has been flown in from France as a lucky-draw prize.

As in previous years, winners in the men’s and ladies sections will defend their Yellow Jerseys.

A new element to Tour de Force is a 5km walk/run, where a prize will be given to the best-dressed “Frenchie” in blue, white and red.

The French Market this year has grown to 40 stalls, which will include delicious delicacies, cheeses, art, furniture, jewellery and décor.

Face painting, a touch farm and pony rides will keep the little ones entertained.

With no entrance fee to the public whether you cycle, run or wish to relax at the French Market, the Tour de Force is an outing for the family to enjoy in the countryside. — DDR
