All kinds of things for your home

Four-day exhibition is under way

- By NONSINDISO QWABE

THE Your Home Expo got off to a good start yesterday at the BKB building in Arcadia, displaying everything needed to turn a house into a home.

A handful of East London homeowners spent the day walking from stall to stall, learning more about appliances, accessories and gadgets promising to make their daily lives pleasant.

Vendor Raymond Moyana, of ePromo, held an interesting pillow in his hand, which twists and turns to suit your needs.

The bamboo pillow is a one of a kind. Made with bamboo products, it promises to work while you sleep so that you wake up a different person.

“This is the most comfortable pillow you’ll ever own. You puff it up to suit your needs, roll it in any direction for a peaceful night’s rest, and you can roll it up and travel anywhere with it. It breathes as you sleep too, so you don’t have to worry about breathing,” he playfully said.

Iwona Rytel, of Arts Unlimited in Vincent, also has her pieces on display at the expo.

A painting of a multicoloured lion on artificial ostrich leather stood out in the building as it was visible from any angle and seemed to follow you around.

“The idea is to see it as almost moving. You can look at it from all angles, and still see it looking in your direction,” Rytel said.

Food was also dominant at the expo, with biltong, macadamia nuts, olives, homemade sauces and various types of salami all on display for people to taste and indulge in.

Pieter Steyn of Epa! Sauces, who has trekked down from Nelspruit to bring his special products to East Londoners, said his fresh, uncooked, multipurpose sauces and pastes were perfect with any meal.

The homemade fresh herb sauces range from mild to extra hot and come in various flavours to suit every age and palate.

Guests at the expo will be spoilt for choice at the four-day event with lots to learn, taste and see, as they get to add little comforts that will make being indoors a fun experience.

● Tickets for the Your Home Expo are R40 for adults, R20 for pensioners and R15 for pupils. The expo runs from 10am to 5pm. —
