Spinning event gets crowd’s pulses racing

TYRES squealed, crowds screamed and rubber burnt – all in the name of fun yesterday.

In an unusual June 16 commemoration event, stunt driver and expert spinner and drifter Eddie “Rasta” Campher, 41, of Elsies River, Cape Town, burned tar in his 1976 Cortina V6.

He was the star among 10 or more drivers whose cars drifted noisily at speed and did smoke-filled doughnut wheelies at the 3rd annual June 16 spinning event in NU11 at Mai Boutique near Mdantsane City. — Mihlali Vellem
