No anarchy in Chris Hani

-

I WRITE in response to the letter “Chris Hani status quo holds” (DD, 13 June) by Mkhuma of ward 8, Getyese branch, who out of desperation and having lost of touch with the body politic of our national democratic revolution positions himself as a spokesperson of the ANC Chris Hani regional executive.

Firstly, this Mkhuma is not an REC member and has never led in the regional space in our movement, therefore his overtures on behalf of ourselves, the REC members, and as a spokesperson of ANC in our region, is nothing but cheap politicking.

For him to vilify and cast negative aspersions about the attendance of any leader at our special regional general council as “anarchist” and a demonstration of “political kwashiokor” is very disturbing, uncalled for and most certainly not in line with the organisational discipline we, in the ANC, are taught to uphold at all material times.

It is important for all to understand that despite egocentric interests, ANC branches make 90% of the delegations at ANC provincial conferences.

From my own view, if branches – whether in Chris Hani or the OR Tambo regions – are claiming their legitimate right in regard to their preferred leaders, who are we to seek to distract their respective organisational right?

I don’t want to go into the detail of what transpired at our special RGC. Nonetheless I categorically refute any misguided and malicious Machiavellian tactics seeking to undermine the views and rights of ANC branches. I do so as a member in good standing.

At an appropriate time ANC branches will nominate provincial leaders. Many comrades in my region have engaged me regarding the nomination of Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane as the next provincial chairperson and they influenced me and my branch to support that view. Your insults, Mkhuma, shall not deter Mabuyane from being elected provincial chair in 2017. — Zibele Xuba, Queenstown
