Weekend fun for all at great line-up of events

EL Ports Festival, Morgan Bay Footprints Festival on the menu

EAST London residents are spoilt for choice with an array of fun activities this weekend.

Yesterday the Great Kei municipali­ty mayor Loyiso Tshetshe officially opened the Morgan Bay Footprints Festival, while the long-awaited East London Ports Festival makes a comeback at the East London harbour this morning.

Footprints Festival, in its fourth year, encourages attendees to reduce their carbon footprint and rather make their way through the small town and explore the stalls.

“It’s a combinatio­n of ecstatic fun, sports and exciting music with lots of arts and crafts exhibited at various stalls,” event coordinato­r Colin Hosek said.

Last night, national headliner Msaki and Kathy Raven were expected to wow the crowds at the Gxara village where they were scheduled to perform while Aston Wiley from The Voice SA, was expected to entertain at the Morgan Bay Hotel.

Today it is all systems go for the East London Port Festival which also boasts a packed line-up of local artists, jazz bands, dance groups and tugboat and ferry rides.
