Chance for rapper to partner with legend

- By POLISWA PLAATJIESEJOSING

ONE lucky up-andcoming rapper will earn an opportunity to work with South Africa’s leading hip-hop artist, Kwesta, who recently won several awards at the South African Music Awards (Sama).

This has been made possible by Russian Bear’s I Am Next campaign, which will see the company travelling with a mobile recording studio around the country in search of the best lyricist.

The team will visit four provinces, including the Eastern Cape, where they will visit East London and Port Elizabeth.

The campaign kicked off on June 16 and is currently in Gauteng with music producer Psyko Beats.

The next stop will be KwaZulu-Natal from July 29 and the Eastern Cape is next from August 19. Bookings for the Eastern Cape open on July 19. The last stop will be the Western Cape from August 25.

Russian Bear brand manager Simone Burns said the campaign was about unearthing new talent and giving them an opportunity to shine.

Everyone that books a session in the recording studio will walk away with a demo track.

The best lyricist with the winning demo will score a recording deal for a collaboration single with Kwesta, produced by Makwa Beats and released by Raplyf Records.

“Once online, you can book your live recording session in the booth by entering the [Russian Bear] bottle barcode. Within 48 hours you’ll be notified if your session in the mobile recording studio has been booked,” said Burns.

A full list of dates and venues for the mobile recording sessions is on the Russian Bear website: www.russianbear.co.za. —
