Structures are geared for elections

-

IT will be all systems go for a number of various structures in the Buffalo City region when they elect new officials.

The annual general meeting of Victoria Mxenge Local Football Association under Safa-Buffalo City where a new executive will be elected today. This after the current leadership’s term ends.

Now the Safa-BCM and members in good standing with the football body will convene their elections at the Moses Twebe Hall in Dimbaza.

Safa-BCM president, Mxolisi Sibam, said they are all set for the elections.

“That LFA includes King William’s Town, Bhisho, Breidbach, Dimbaza, Ginsberg and surrounding areas,” he said.

He said notices to this effect were issued to all members of the LFA, who are in good standing.

This month all six LFA members under Safa-BCM are to conduct their elective ordinary congresses. Two more have confirmed dates – July 9 for uGompo LFA and Mdantsane LFA will have their congress on July 16, while the other three LFAs – Bunkers West, King Central and EL West – are to confirm their dates before the end of this week.

He said all LFAs are given until July 31 to hold their elective congresses.

Sibam said it is compulsory for all LFA elections and congresses to be supervised by Safa-Buffalo City.

“Only six members of our members demarcated under BCMM have the right to use LFA and these are Bunkers West LFA, EL West LFA, uGompo LFA, Mdantsane LFA, King Central LFA and Victoria Mxenge LFA,” he said.

He said Safa-BCM was happy that elections are taking place at LFA level to ensure a continued rollout of their development mandate in the region.

Victoria Mxenge LFA secretary, Thembinkosi Smanga said an extraordinary congress took place on June 21 and it drafted a way forward heading to this meeting.

“Last month we adopted a universal statute which Safa adopted on September 26 in 2015.

“It’s purpose was to design uniformity in the LFAs so there are no contradictions among members,” said Smanga.

They [Victoria Mxenge] adopted these statutes and made presentations to members so they can prepare for the elective conference.

“Everyone must know what’s expected of them when we get there [elective conference].

“We have even distributed nomination forms so that things can run smoothly on the day,” he said.

He said the elections were supposed to have been hosted last year but that did not materialise.

“Safa was realigning the terms to begin the same time as the World Cup tournament.

“That’s why we had to wait, otherwise now everything will go full steam ahead to regional and then national,” he said.

Safa-Buffalo City will hold its 2017 elective Ordinary congress before February 28 next year. — DDR
