Houseful sign up for top Comedy
AFTER a sold-out show last month, the Comedy Night East London returns next week with Port Elizabeth comic Ntosh Madlingozi headlining the event.
The Comedy Night is a partnership between entertainment company Splakavellis Management and Wiseguys Bar & Grill in Vincent.
The event, in its third month now, sees the two hosting a comedy show every last Wednesday of the month.
The show features a national headline act and host, local headline act and a slot for local comedians to showcase their talent.
Last month’s show which featured comics Tats Nkonzo, Loyiso Madinga, Schalk Bezuidenhout, Zimvo and Luphelo Kodwa had the audience in tears laughing and begging for more.
The next show on Wednesday, will see Durban comic Richelieu Beaunoir who is the current Comedy Central’s Roast Battle champion hosting the event, while Madlingozi, known for his many television appearances, will headline with Kodwa making his return as the local act.
Splakavellis Management’s Sheree O’Brien said: “I genuinely never expected a sold-out venue in just two months! I am humbled and excited by the support and growth for Comedy Night East London.”
One of the reasons behind the Comedy Night is to create a comedy culture in the city and give locals an opportunity to grow among established comics.
“We will always bring the best national and local comics to the city, as well as continuously were left make changes to improve the quality and production of the event so that I can get it to the standard that I am accustomed to from the best comedy clubs around the country. I want to give East London the best, and with patience and continued support, we’ll get there,” O’Brien said.

“We are also seeking corporate partnership in order to sustain and grow the event for the long-term. We urge businesses of any size to please get involved,” she said.
Doors at Wiseguys open at 6pm and the show starts at 8pm. —
