- By POLISWA PLAATJIE-SEJOSING

LAST year’s Tru Talent music category winner Azi Dladla will be performing his latest single featuring iFani on SABC1 music show Live Amp today.

The song, Mbishe, will also be making its radio debut.

The 21-year-old Port Elizabeth-born rapper said since winning the talent search competition his life has changed tremendously.

Dladla, who is based in Johannesburg, said he was also working towards releasing his debut album later this year. He had also become a signed artist thanks to the exposure he got from the Tru Talent search.

“Being part of the competition has really inspired me to do more and be more. Working with iFani was great, he is a crazy artist and I hope to work with him again,” Dladla said.

Tru FM launched the Tru Talent campaign in 2015 with the aim of connecting with the youth of the Eastern Cape by providing them with a platform to showcase their talent and nurture it through workshops.

The search has three categories – radio presenting, music and dance. A one-year contract as a presenter on Tru FM is up for grabs in the radio presenting category, while the music category gives one an opportunity to record a single at the Eastern Cape Audio Visual Centre. This year’s mentor will be announced during the workshop stage of the competition.

All winners will receive R10 000 cash prizes and a tablet with two gigabytes of data for a period of 12 months from Vodacom.

Tru Talent 2017 is under way with auditions taking place at the SABC offices in Bhisho tomorrow.

On August 12, auditions will be held at the Fort Beaufort town hall.

Those who want to audition in Komani can do so at the Indoor Sports Centre on August 19. Bizana youth can make a stop at the Love Life Centre on August 26 and those near Mthatha can go to the O R Tambo Hall in Vulindlela Heights on September 2.

East London auditions are on September 9 at the City Hall. Port Elizabeth auditions will be at the Lillian Nqoyi Sports Centre on September 16. —
