Selborne hoping for win and revenge against college rivals Dale

- By ROSS ROCHE

SCHOOL rugby action is winding to an end with only a few derbies left in the winter season. However some cracking encounters are lined up this weekend to entertain.

Heading today's action is the College clash between rivals Selborne and Dale at Selborne College.

A fierce encounter should be on the cards, with both teams heading into the match off defeats.

Selborne were edged in an epic tussle with Queen’s College 22-19 in their last outing, while Dale came off second best in their clash against St Andrews, going down 40-17.

It was Selborne's fourth loss in a row and they will be desperate to get back on the winning track, while Dale will also want to get back to winning ways, have lost their last two matches.

Selborne will also be hunting a bit of revenge after Dale beat them 22-19 in King William’s Town earlier in the season and will be hoping their home ground advantage gives them a boost in today's match.

A big co-ed clash on show will see Cambridge High play host to Stirling in their derby encounter today.

It will be a tough match for Cambridge who have not had the best of seasons and head into the game off a loss against Port Rex. They will hope that their supporters can lift them to an upset win.

Stirling have enjoyed a very good season and although they head into the match off a tight 7-3 loss against Hudson park, they will be confident of getting another win over a side that they beat at home 38-5 earlier in the season.

Grens High will then welcome Queen’s College to East London for their derby match.

Despite playing away Queen’s will be heavy favourites, with them coming off a morale boosting win against Selborne and on a four match winning streak, while Grens will just be looking to put up a good fight.
