Masuku thrilled to be back for Bafana

- By MFUNDO PILISO

Chippa United midfielder Menzi Masuku feels honoured to once again be wearing national colours following his late call-up to the Bafana squad playing against Zambia in the Chan qualifiers at Buffalo City Stadium in East London today. (kick-off 3pm).

Masuku was one of 10 players called up for camp after Premier Soccer League clubs AmaZulu, Highlands Park, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates withdrew players from the 25-man squad that was announced by head coach Stuart Baxter. The former Orlando Pirates man said going back to the Bafana Bafana team was an achievement and that it has given him hope he will do well this season.

“Its always an honour to wear these colours and I'm excited about this call-up to the squad under coach [Stuart Baxter] whom I respect very much.

“I'm also in the new set-up and I'm looking forward to representing myself and my team well.’’

Masuku said nothing had changed in playing for the senior team except the management he played under and that he will do his best to make his mark.

“We are representing the country so nothing changes. The pressure is still there and the Zambian side is not a bad team either. So we will have to work very very hard and play well in front of our fans.

“Even the coach, including the players as well know how important it is to win this game because we are going to play the second game away.

“So everything will depend on how we play today.”
