EAST London comic Virgil Prins returns home today to host the Comedy Night EL show. Comedy night is a partnership between entertainment company Splakavellis Management and Wiseguys Bar and Grill in Vincent.

The event, now in its fourth month, sees the two hosting a comedy show every last Wednesday of the month.

The show features a national headline act and host, a local headline act, and a slot for local comedians to showcase their talent.

Prins said he was excited about coming back home to be a part of the initiative.

The last time Prins was in East London was when he hosted his debut one-man show at the Guild Theatre last year.

Since then, he has also performed on world stages at the Montreux international comedy festival in Switzerland and the Busan International Comedy Festival in South Korea.

He recently took his show to the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.

“The show has been well supported and I am thankful to the public,” he said.

Prins, who promised his fans a great show, said he wanted people to laugh at the unnecessary things life throws at us.

He will be joined by Lihle Msimang, who is known for her many television appearances which include as one of the Outlaws on MTVs’ YouGotGot prank show, and the all-round creative, Tol Ass Mo, who is known for his pranks, TV and radio presenting, producing and is a musician.

Local comic Soso Sigcau will to showcase his talent.

Splakavellis Management’s Sheree O’Brien said local comedians who would like to try out their material were welcome to contact her.

She said they could e-mail her
