E.tv and eHD take on ‘Days’, and further revamps

-

LONG-RUNNING super-soapie Days of our Lives finds a new South African home on e.tv and eHD from this evening, airing each day at 5.30pm.

Tonight the series will start with a recap episode and from tomorrow it will continue with episode 12 368, which is exactly where SABC3 left off.

The show has entertained audiences around the world since 1965, chronicling the antics of the residents of the fictitious town of Salem.

“Days”, as it’s affectionately known, tells the story of three main families: the Bradys, the Hortons and the DiMeras.

The multi-layered storylines involve everything that has defined the soap opera genre – romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama.

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.”

For half of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama’s rare mainstays.

NBC’s Days of our Lives, which turned 51 in November last year, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. The show has garnered 43 Daytime Emmy Awards, including 2015’s Outstanding Daytime Drama, and 298 nominations, as well as multiple People’s Choice Awards, GLAAD Media Awards and Prism Awards.

Aired nationally on NBC in the US and several countries internationally, much of its success is derived from its uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests.

With its mix of classic genre traditions and ground-breaking narratives reflecting modern life, Days of our Lives remains a perennial favourite among viewers of all ages.

e.tv is set to introduce further revamps – the channel’s music show, Club 808, moves from 6pm to 4.30 pm from Friday, September 8, meaning that The Steve Harvey Show will only broadcast every Monday to Thursday at 4.30pm.

Broken Vows will move to 6.30pm on weekdays, with eNews Direct taking the weekly 8pm slot on e.tv.

Broken Vows will now kick off the “90 Minutes of Drama” slot every weekday at 6.30pm, which is then followed by Rhythm City at 7pm and Scandal! at 7.30pm.

“The television broadcast industry is constantly evolving and the channel needs to ensure that it delivers top-quality entertainment,” says Marlon Davids, managing director of e.tv.

“The objective of this revamped schedule is to stay in line with the trends of the television industry and bring our viewers the best in local and international content in prime time slots across the family of channels.”
