CHIPPA United caretaker coach Teboho Moloi said he was pleased with his team’s smash-and-grab point away from home after playing to a goalless draw with Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday evening.

Moloi had hoped to kick start his coaching career at Chippa with a win as the team also attempted to bounce back from their disappointing 3-1 loss to Baroka in mid-week.

But he said a point was a good enough result.

“It was not a good game. Both teams came off big losses in mid-week games, today it was just a scrappy affair.

“I am happy with this point because Platinum Stars came here to give us a run for our money. They played differently from during the week.”

The former Orlando Pirates midfielder was named as the Chilli Boys caretaker coach last week replacing Dan Malesela, who was axed.

Meanwhile Stars coach Roger De Sa said the only positive thing to take from the game was the clean sheet.

Chippa’s next game is away to SuperSport United tomorrow night while Stars host Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

● Meanwhile, Chippa’s reserve team grabbed their first win of the MultiChoice Diski Challenge season when they beat SuperSport United 2-0 at a wet and windy Wolfson Stadium on Saturday.

The victory also saw the junior Chilli Boys bounce back from their 3-1 defeat against Ajax Cape Town in their opening league fixture last weekend.
