Disebo launches debut disc

- By MBALI TANANA

AFROSOUL songbird Disebo Ntsolo is in the Eastern Cape to promote her debut album Colours of Love.

The lanky beauty’s mellow yet deep album will be available at music stores from October 1.

This week she was in East London as part of her nationwide promotional tour.

She said her music was inspired by the award-winning artist Maleh, with whom she worked on the album.

“There are lots of artists that have influenced my sound, the likes of Thandiswa Mazwai and Zonke, to name a few, but I don’t want to be another one of them which is why I have given my music a unique touch of me.

“Afrosoul is long lasting, it’s not a phase, and it just allows for one to express how one feels in a soothing, relaxing manner.”

Ntsolo said she was excited to bring her album to fans across the country after a long journey trying to break into the industry.

“After completing my media communication degree, I took some time to work in the corporate industry to save up for my dream of getting my own album out and pursuing my singing career.

“Although some of my songs have been available online, I am excited about getting the album out there to see how my music will be received and what my market is like.

“The album is inspired a lot by love and my personal journey of self-discovery and growth. It’s a reflection of various emotions – many facets of me.”

The Durban-born rising star said, just like many artists, she had crossed the borders of KwaZuluNatal in pursuit of a life on stage in the city of gold.

“For a while I lived a double life working as a fashion buyer by day and performing anywhere I could by night, so it has been quite a journey and I am in a very happy space. I’m content and extremely grateful for all the love and support I have been getting.”
